FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in making in optoelectroics during production of solar cells. Tetrahalogensilane is reduced with an alkali metal in the presence of an ionic liquid based on di-substituted imidazolium and the dispersion of silicon particles formed is separated. The di-substituted imidazolium used is a compound of general formula (R1-NC3H3N-R2)+, where R1 is selected from C1-C6 alkyls and R2 is selected from C1-C6 alkyls.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain stabilised silicon nanoclusters with particle size of 1-12 nm.
