FIELD: instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: liquid-crystal optical device includes a pair of insulating substrates, from which at least one is transparent. Also device comprises electrodes shaped on according inner sides of insulating substrates. Besides, device comprises composite of nematic liquid crystal and hardened product placed between inner sides of insulating substrates. At the same time composite is produced by hardening of the following hardened compound in the following chiral nematic liquid crystal composition in condition, when liquid-crystal composition is arranged between inner sides of insulating substrates, and liquid crystal is oriented. Besides, chiral nematic liquid crystal composition is a liquid crystal composition that comprises nematic liquid crystal and hardened compound and demonstrates chiral nematic phase. At the same time at least part of hardened compound represents an optically active material with ability of optical rotation and optically active material capable of optical rotation, consists substantially exclusively of hardened compound.
EFFECT: development of liquid crystal optical device with low opacity value in transparent condition and superb stability in characteristics of transparency-scattering and efficiency.
