FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: powder tool steel contains, wt %: C+N 1.1-2.3; Si 0.1-2.0; Mn 0.1-3.0; Cr max.20; (Mo+W/2) 5-20; Co 0-20; Cu, Ni, Sn, Pb, Ti, Zr, and Al in sum not over 1 %; Nb and V at amounts meeting conditions: 4.0 ≤ (Nb+V) ≤ 7.0 and 0.55 ≤ (Nb/V) ≤ 4.0; iron and unavoidable impurities - the rest. Tools for hot or cold treatment of for cutting are fabricated our of steel by hot isostatic compression of steel powder produced by sputtering with gas. There is fabricated a blank of a tool successively quenched from temperature 950-1250 °C and tempered at 480-650°C for 3×1 h.
EFFECT: steel possesses high physical-mechanical and operational properties.
