FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: steel contains the following, wt %: C 0.28 to 0.5, Si 0.10 to 1.5, Mn 1.0 to 2.0, S maximum 0.2, Cr 1.5 to 4, Ni 3.0 to 5, Mo 0.7 to 1.0, V 0.6 to 1.0, from trace quantities to total maximum content of 0.4 wt % of rare-earth metals, and iron and impurities are the rest. After softening annealing, steel has a matrix including re-aged martensite with content of approximately to 5 vol % of actually round, uniformly distributed carbides; with that, matrix contains no carbides along boundaries of grains.
EFFECT: steel has improved processibility, wear resistance and ability for hardening.
