FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: sensor of the line and lamp is arranged in the direction of scanning line perpendicular to direction of contact wire line and installed on maintenance car. Sensor takes pictures of surface of contact wire line, which contacts the pantograph during movement of maintenance car, and obtained signal of picture is recorded in recording device by means of measuring computing device. Measuring computing device arranges brightness signals of scanned lines, which are obtained by sensor, to time series and creates a picture from the line sensor. Measuring computing device performs binary processing of picture from line sensor. Besides, measuring computing device removes parts of sky from this picture from the line sensor after binary processing and points out edges of worn part of contact wire line, and then determines the width of worn part of contact wire line according to its total width and height relative to sensor of contact wire line.

EFFECT: measurement of wear throughout the length of contact wire line and simplifying the wear measurement process, and measurement at the day-time without influence of constructions adjacent to contact wire line.
