FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises casting metal billet 1 directed from crystalliser vertically or arc-like downward along guide cramp bar incorporating definite number of roller pairs 4. Prior to casting, element is fed into crystalliser from below whereto cast metal billet 1 is attached. Biller element 6 is used as said fed element. Said element 6 is detached after complete cooling of liquid metal and used for subsequent casting cycles. For calibration and/or measurement of clearance 5 between rollers of appropriate pairs 4, billet element 6 is set to required calibration depth d. Biller element 6 is hardened and/or provided with wear resistant coat on sides 9, 10 that face rollers 7, 8.
EFFECT: fast compensation of roller wear.
