FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: gamma-ray flaw detector has a housing with a radiation source in a radiation protection unit composed of a fixed part with a collimating slit and a movable segment with possibility of fitting into the matching collimating slit, a crank for moving the movable segment of the protection unit, an handle for carrying the gamma-ray flaw detector which is hinged to the housing, as well as a remote drive for releasing and covering the radiation beam. Hinges of the handle are in form of pivoted tongues fitted with profiled latches, kinematically blocking the crank when the handle is moved from the horizontal position to the vertical direction. The crank also has a reinforced spring element which carries the movable part of the protection unit.
EFFECT: safer and easier operation of the flaw detector.
