FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: control method of engine equipped with low-pressure recirculation loop (17) of exhaust gases (6) consists in adjusting of preset certain operational parametre of engine by means of valve (10) position control, if measurement of preliminary specified value corresponds to preset criterion, and by means of exhaust flap (19) position control, if it does not correspond. Valve (10) is installed in exhaust gas recirculation loop (17). The flap (19) is installed outside the loop (17). Engine (1) includes recirculation loop (17), control means of preset engine operational parametre, control means of exhaust gas recirculation valve (10) and exhaust flap (19) position, also measurement means of valve (10) preset value. Adjustment means can influence control means of valve and flap position according to said method. Preset engine operational parametre can be exhaust gas recirculation rate or air consumption. Preset value can be valve (10) position and criterion maintenance is defined by its position that is less than estimating threshold value. Threshold value estimation can be performed based upon map-making (60) at engine and fuel consumption mode. Flap (19) and valve (10) position can be defined by means of single regulator (30).

EFFECT: optimisation of air consumption and recirculation rate control depending upon recirculation valve and exhaust flap operating status.
