SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in internal combustion engines. A method for engine operation comprises engine operation in idle mode with first percentage content of recycled exhaust gases in cylinder charge when engine temperature is lower than a first temperature. Operating engine in idle mode with a second percentage content of recycled exhaust gases in cylinder charge, lower than first percentage content when engine temperature is higher than first temperature. Spark plug is activated and deactivated depending on percentage content of recycled exhaust gases or engine exhaust gas temperature. Invention discloses engine operation process and system.

EFFECT: technical result reducing startup time of catalyst and reducing engine warm-up time.
