FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: set of invention relates to locomotive power plant control systems. Locomotive control system comprises ICE, generator, traction rectifier, traction motors, reduction gears and drive axles. Control device additionally incorporates power accumulator, current and voltage converter and controller, transducers for feedback and locking devices. In transient operating conditions, ICE load is decreased by reducing generator load via control system. Note here that traction power is kept increasing by regulating current and voltage converter and controller operation to make power accumulator discharging into power circuit at preset rate. Transient process control is by control system allowing power accumulator charge flow in stepped increase the ICE crankshaft angular speed and use of traction generator free power to charge power accumulator. During said transient process, control system sets admissible minimum excess air factor.

EFFECT: increased ICE efficiency due to lower thermal loads on operating components, black deposition and that of incomplete combustion products in exhaust paths.
