SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relate to locomotives and motor cars. Method of a shunting locomotive with a hybrid power plant operation is in supply of traction asynchronous electric motors by traction batteries and a diesel generator. At that, on the electrified sections of the direct current tracks, taking the electric power from the catenary system and powering the traction motors. On the sections of the alternate current tracks, taking the electric power from the catenary system and powering the traction motors. At that, charging the rechargeable batteries from the voltage converter via the auxiliary converter. During the locomotive braking, traction motors are switched into generator mode, generating electric power and charging the batteries. With the switched off traction motors, the diesel generator set is charging the batteries. Disclosed is a shunting locomotive with an energy installation consisting of a diesel generator and traction batteries, conversion systems for operation on direct and alternate current sections of tracks.

EFFECT: technical result is in the possibility of the locomotive operating both in non-electrified sections and in electrified direct and alternating current sections of tracks.
