FIELD: railway transport; diesel locomotives; heavy trucks with electric transmission. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes measuring of acceleration and taking into account of parameters of engine working process and those of power transmission making it possible to optimize operation of vehicle in motion. Device for implementing proposed method is essentially microprocessor control unit operating with primary data pickups which controls fuel feed and excitation of traction generator according to preset algorithm. Possibility of combined operation of two or more similar-type vehicles as one hauling unit is provided.
