FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of fibers from basalt rocks and to design of stone smelting furnaces. Proposed invention allows reducing power consumption, increasing efficiency and improving fibre strength, elasticity and heat resistance. Prior to loading, basalt stock is heated to 250-400°C, and loaded directly in zone of maximum temperatures of 1450-2000°C of loading burner flame, fusing basalt stock, degassing and homogenising of melt is performed at melt low levels of 5-70 mm on smelting platform with increasing said level to 80-300 mm in furnace bath. Proposed device comprises basalt loader, furnace heating system made up of two or more burners communicated with gas-air mix and recuperator. Recuperator is communicated via smoke discharge manifold with furnace feeder. There is additionally recuperator to heat basalt in aforesaid loader, loading burner, smelting platform arranged under said burner on bath bottom that produce local zone of high temperatures, i.e. basalt smelting, degassing and melt homogenising zones.
EFFECT: invention allows reducing gas consumption by 30% and electric power consumption by 55% per 1 ton of continuous basalt finer, increasing efficiency and improving fibre strength, elasticity and heat resistance.
