METHOD OF TREATING INJURIES OF ACHILLES TENDON Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC A61B17/56 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to traumatology and orthopedics and can be applied for treatment of Achilles tendon injuries. Autologous bone marrow is taken from heel bone on the side of injured extremity or behind iliac bone crest in volume 160 ml with isolation from it after aspiration and filtration of leukocyte concentrate, which contains mesenchymal stem cells. Maximally possible approach and adaptation of torn tendon ends is performed by giving knee joint flexion to angle 140-150°, and in foot - maximal sole flexion, controlling process of approaching and positioning tendon ends in closed way transosteally with ultrasonic examination. In case if closed approaching of tendon ends is not possible, surgery is performed by making 10-12 cm long cut of skin and subcutaneous cellular tissue on posterior external surface of shin, exposing tendon and matching its ends with application of tendon suture. Into zone of matched tendon ends and into their mass introduced is leukocyte concentrate in volume 7 ml with mesenchymal stem cells in amount 4.7x10⁷ cells/ml. Injured extremity is immobilised by means of plaster bandage in position of shin and foot flexion from toe ends to middle third of hip for the term of not longer than 4 weeks.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to reduce process of tendon degeneration, stimulate angiogenesis, reduce formation of scar tissue.
