FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry and can be used in producing hydrogen. Iron wire is periodically fed into a reactor between electrodes in a medium of superheated saturated steam. An electrical discharge periodically occurs on the electrodes with voltage of 45 kV and the wire is periodically blown to small liquid metal particles which react with water vapour to form iron oxides and gaseous hydrogen.
EFFECT: high efficiency of the process.
