FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry and may be used in production of hydrogen. Aluminium electrodes are fed into reactor to feed water with alkaline metal hydroxides traces into electrode zone. Contact current of 30-110 V, 5-10 A, is fed to electrodes to initiate voltaic arc between electrodes to disperse aluminium electrodes in voltaic arc so that aluminium nanopowder is produced to interact with water and, finally, to produce aluminium oxides and hydrogen gas. With voltaic arc extinguishing, aluminium electrodes are shifted unless arc is initiated while water with alkaline metal hydroxides traces is added with depletion.
EFFECT: higher efficiency and hydrogen purity at lower costs.
