FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: water and aluminium powder are periodically fed between electrodes into a reactor. The obtained aluminium suspension is brought into contact with the electrodes and high frequency AC voltage of 3 kV is periodically applied across the electrodes. Current passes through the layer of the metal powder thereby forming a high-frequency discharge spark at points of incomplete touching. The powder is dispersed to form aluminium nanoparticles which, upon reaction with water, form aluminium oxides and hydrogen gas.
EFFECT: high efficiency and low power consumption.
