METHOD OF PREDICTING RISK OF INFECTING NASAL MUCOSA WITH CHLAMYDIA IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC MAXILLARY SINUSITIS Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC A61B10/00

Abstract RU 2425634 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to otolaryngology. Essence of method lies in the total point estimation of detected 10 factors of risk of Chlamydia infection of nasal mucosa. Presence of family member, having chlamydiosis of any localisation, is estimated as 3 points; duration of maxillary sinusitis disease longer than 2 years - as 3 points; acute condition of maxillary sinusitis 1 time per year and more often - as 3 points; three and more chronic diseases of different organs and systems of organism - as 3 points; symptoms of non-specific intoxication - as 1 point; reduced physical development, determined by Quetelet index - as 2 points; work at enterprise with harmful labour conditions - as 1 point; harmful habits: tobacco smoking, drinking alcohol, drug addiction or toxicomania - as 2 points; frequent stresses - as 1 point; living in certain climatic conditions for less than 10 years - as 1 point. If sum is less than 8 points, low risk is predicted, if sum equals 8 points or is higher than 8 points - higher risk of Chlamydia infection of nasal mucosa is predicted.

EFFECT: method, being simple, available and reliable, makes it possible, without application of expensive laboratory methods, detect patients with higher risk of Chlamydia infection in due time, carry out anti-Chlamydia treatment in due time, which contributes to reduction of number of complications and prevents dissemination of Chlamydia infection.
