FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for treatment of initial keratoconus of cornea. For this purpose intrastromal keratoplasty is performed by implantation of corneal segment into preliminarily formed circular tunnel in 5 mm zone of cornea. After 12-18 months sectoral laser thermokeratoplasty is performed. For this purpose cornea is exposed to irradiation of laser on ytterbium-erbium glass with wavelength 1540 nm, depth of impact 600-700 mcm. Coagulates are applied in chessboard order on cornea periphery in form of semi-circle with diameter 8.0-10.0 mm.

EFFECT: method ensures efficient and safe treatment of chronic progressing keratoconus at initial stage, contributing to interruption of its progressing due to strengthening cornea in zone of ectasia, creation of strong frame on entire thickness of cornea periphery, restoration of its sphericity and increase of visual acuity with preservation of anatomical eye parameters.
