FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a layered double hydroxide containing a charge-compensating anion, comprising a step for obtaining a precursor suspension or solution containing a source of divalent or trivalent metal ions, water and a water-miscible solvent, in which at least 5 g/l precursor can be dissolved. The precursor suspension or solution is then treated to obtain layered double hydroxides, in which a charge-compensating anion precursor is added to the suspension or solution before, during or after treatment. If the charge-compensating anion is an organic anion, less than 50 wt % of the charge-compensating anion precursors per total weight of the charge-compensating anion precursors is a salt, if the charge-compensating anion is not a carbonate. The invention also relates to a layered double hydroxide obtained using the described method.
EFFECT: invention enables to lower alkalinity and amount of water in the layered double hydroxide.
