FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: dulling procedure for sharp edges of items consists in heating edge of item with laser beam to temperature not exceeding temperature of material melt at relative transfer of laser beam and material at velocity within range: V=(0.7-0.95)Vmax, where V is optimal velocity of face forming at specified power of laser radiation, mm/sec; Vmax is maximal velocity of face formation at specified power of laser radiation. mm/sec. The procedure consists in additional heating a strip of material separated from the edge with the second beam to temperature exceeding temperature of material melting. Heating is performed with laser radiation with non-Gaussian distribution of radiation, in particular, with close to uniform distribution or distribution of density of radiation power receding from periphery to centre of beam in cross section passing through centre of beam. Before edges dulling the edge is locally softened by means of a diamond-abrasive tool.
EFFECT: increased strength of item edge.
