SUBSTANCE: in compliance with this invention, positive and/or negative gas ions are generated by plasma 6 produced by dielectrically limited discharge. Note here that said discharge is brought about by feeding inert gas through capillary 2 from dielectric material. Note also that two electrically isolated electrodes 3, 4 arranged on capillary and adjoining emission zone of said capillary are used to feed variable voltage and analysed gas is fed into zone of emission outside said capillary.
EFFECT: higher sensitivity and stability.
