SUBSTANCE: as per measured phase currents and voltages at short circuit and as per load current in pre-emergency mode by means of telegraph equations there obtained is estimated distance to place of failure. Then, by means of iterative process, by changing transient resistance at place of failure and considering transversal capacities of the line, wave processes and the criterion of the fact that imaginary part of distance to place of failure tends to zero specify the distance to place of failure.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of determining the distance to place of failure.
