FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: experimental sample of peptides is analysed via electrospray ionisation Fourier transform mass spectrometry. Presence of isomerised aspartate is indicated by peaks in the mass spectra, which correspond to marker fragments z10-57, c6+57 and b6+H2O. Use of the method enables to correctly identify isomerised aspartate in position 7 of the fragment of 1-16 beta-amyloid as a result of simultaneous use of two independently fragmentation methods.
EFFECT: advantage of said method is the use of low nanomolar concentrations of the initial isoforms and wide dynamic range of the measured concentrations.
