FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: installation consists of fixed reservoir for direct melting with unit for supply of solid particles for introduction of hot metal containing source material and carbon containing material. Also, the unit supplying solid material has multitude of tuyeres for blow-in of solid particles passing downwards and inside through windows in a side wall of the reservoir. Tuyeres for blow-in of solid particles have multitude of tuyeres for blow-in of metal containing material into the reservoir and multitude of tuyeres for blow-in carbon containing material into the reservoir. Also, multitude of tuyeres for blow-in of metal containing material into the reservoir are arranged in pairs along perimetre of the side wall of the reservoir for direct melting, while separate tuyeres for blow-in of solid carbon containing material are positioned between neighbour pairs of the tuyeres for blow-in of metal containing material.
EFFECT: melting over one million ton of iron per year by Hismelt process.
