FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: installation consists of fixed reservoir for direct melting containing chimney and side wall, of unit for supply of solid source material including metal containing source material and carbon containing material from place of location of source of solid source materials at distance from reservoir, of unit of supply of oxygen containing gas from place of location of source of oxygen containing gas at distance from reservoir. The installation also has a unit for withdrawal of exhaust gas designed for facilitation of flow of exhaust gas from the reservoir. The unit for withdrawal of exhaust gas has two pipelines of exhaust gas of matching diameter. The pipelines pass outside from the reservoir.
EFFECT: production of over 1 million ton of melted iron per year by Hismelt process.
