FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: device for measuring laser radiation power employs identical heat receivers lying on the radiation path and having high speed of operation. Such a device, called a thermal trap-detector, is a collection of identical receiving plates - heat receivers with a flat absorbing, mirror-reflecting surface, where the plane of the receiving plates lies such that the resultant mirror reflection coefficient does not depend on the type of polarisation of incident radiation. The thermal trap-detector can be widely used in laser radiometry for measuring power of laser radiation in wide dynamic and spectral ranges. The device enables to transmit the size of unit average power of laser radiation from a cryogenic radiometre directly on its power level to apparatus for measuring average power of laser radiation, working in a higher dynamic range.
EFFECT: wider spectral and dynamic range of operation of such a device.
