FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: intermittent detonation engine with controlled ignition, which operates on highly inflammable air-fuel mixture, includes combustion chamber closed on one of its ends with impact wall, and at least two pre-detonation tubes. The latter are equipped with low-energy ignition means and interconnected with combustion chamber by means of one of its ends, which is open to combustion chamber and faces the impact wall. Location of pre-detonation tubes is such that the waves passing through them are reflected with impact wall to combustion chamber. In pre-detonation tubes the flame is brought into spread state close to conditions of thermal locking, without trying to achieve detonation mode. Detonation of highly flammable mixture contained in combustion chamber is initiated at point of combustion chamber, at which pressure and temperature is raised to extremely high values owing to blast waves formed in pre-detonation tubes which are then reflected and focused with blast wall at the above point.
EFFECT: invention allows decreasing the size of engine and improving its reliability in operation.
