FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: converter has an additional layer placed in front of said layer of material, the geometry of said additional layer enabling attenuation of radiation on the entire cross-section of the converter, and material of the additional layer in the given geometry is selected based on the condition for reduction of the slope coefficient b2 of the linear spectral characteristic of an additional detector by increasing dimensions of said additional layer, with simultaneous increase in the slope coefficient b1 of the linear spectral characteristic of the main detector, wherein the composition of the converter is defined such that, selection of materials for the detecting element and each of the layers of the converter on weight and geometry is provided in a defined proportion according to the structural formula of the components of the converter (D×H)El, where D is the characteristic lateral dimension of the corresponding layer of the converter, H is the characteristic thickness of the corresponding layer of the converter, El is the chemical composition of material of the layer.

EFFECT: reduced errors when determining characteristics of deceleration radiation.
