FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: ice breaker incorporates additional engine unit and lateral tunnel for maneuvering. Said engine unit comprises at least one extending auxiliary thrust device including propelling screw to create thrust that may move vertically into and from ice breaker hull and allows accommodate coaxially said propelling screw in lateral tunnel. Additional thrust device may have two guide rods arranged vertically in ship hull, column to move vertically along said guide rods and provided with propelling screw secured to its lower end, and drive unit secured to column top end to move column vertically and to turn it. Said drive unit may have motor to turn said column and cylinder to mover said column vertically. Additional thrust device may have bottom cover secured to propelling screw lower surface and having the shape mating that of hull bottom surface. Said cover may be located level with hull bottom surface with additional thrust device diverted.
EFFECT: higher maneuverability and speed with additional thrust device retracted.
