SUBSTANCE: in the method a document is placed in a machine-readable zone, illuminated with an infrared source, information is read by at least four analog video cameras, video signals from cameras are converted from an analog to a digital form, they are introduced into a computer with the help of a video-capture device, switching video inputs of the video-capture device, the produced video signals are combined into a common video signal, and computer treatment is carried out to produce parameters of a common video signal, which characterise a contrast printing signal.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of documents recognition during their verification and manufacturing.
