FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear engineering, particularly, to production of absorption cores from neutron-absorbing material to be used in nuclear reactor control and protection hardware. Proposed method comprises cold moulding of electrolytic hafnium powder of powder mix based thereon into briquettes by hydraulic pressure of male die in cylindrical mould with specific moulding force of 5.0-6.0 t/cm2, briquette sintering in vacuum at 900-1150°C for 30-60 min, and hot extrusion of sintered briquette by counter pressure through female die at 800-1150°C arranged in container heated to 200-800°C to produce rod-like absorption core to be subjected to thermal treatment and grinding. Said female die features funnel variable profile, inlet taper of 90-100° and outlet taper of 50-70°.
EFFECT: ease of production, simplified process.
