METHOD OF PREDICTING DEVELOPMENT OF PARTIAL RECURRENCE OF FUNNEL CHEST IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A61B10/00

Abstract RU 2440787 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to children's surgery. Patient's age and sex, presence of accompanying pathology - connective tissue dysplasia, degree of chest deformation before correction, supposed time of post-operative immobilisation are determined. Expression of indices is estimated in points: patient's age from 3 to 7 years - 4 points, from 8 to 10 years - 3 points, from 11 to 15 years - 2 points, from 16 to 18 years - 1 point; male patient - 2 points, female patient - 1 point; in case of connective tissue dysplasia two points are added, in case of its absence - 1 point; degree of chest deformation before correction: 2 degree - 1 point, 2-3 degree - 2 points, 3 degree - 3 points; term of post-operative immobilisation: 1 year - 2 points, 2 years - 1 point. If total value for all age groups is lower than 6 points, low risk is predicted, from 6 to 9 points - medium risk, from 10 points and higher - high risk of partial recurrence is predicted.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to carry out subjective estimation of funnel chest recurrence and makes it possible to take decision about stopping, continuing or changing carried out therapy.
