FIELD: medicine; pediatric surgery.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to pediatric surgery; it can be used for the determination of time of the second stage of thoracoplasty in funnel-shaped chest deformation in children older than 12 years. Dynamic control of costal cartilage change is performed, for which an ultrasound research is performed before the first stage of thoracoplasty with the determination of hyperechoic zones in costal cartilages of II-IV ribs left and right, and determination of distancing of hyperechoic-changed costal cartilages from the maximum deformation zone. Two years after the first stage of thoracoplasty, repeated ultrasound scanning of costal cartilages is performed in patients, according to which three variants of hyperechoic changes are detected. In this case, in the first variant, the length of the central hyperechoic zone is 1/3 of the costal cartilage, in the second variant, it is from 1/3 to 1/2 of the costal cartilage, in the third variant, it is more than 1/2 of the length of the costal cartilage. In case of absence of the second and the third variants of hyperechoic changes in cartilage structures of II-IV ribs, a correcting plate is removed.

EFFECT: method provides for a dynamic assessment of maturity of cartilage tissue of ribs during the postoperative period with a clinical justification of the duration of plate standing due to the dynamic control of maturity of cartilage tissue.
