SUBSTANCE: device comprises a transmitter (12) with a light source (17, 18) used to send optical measuring radiation (13, 20, 22) in the target object direction (15) and a receiver (14). The receiver is positioned in some distance from the optical axis (38) of the transmitter (12) and includes at least one optical detector (54) with a light-sensitive surface (66). The detector receives the optical radiation (16, 49, 50) returning from the target object (15). The light-sensitive surface (66) of the detector (54) has a near-field optical element (68). Its light-sensitive surface (72, 74) is extended towards the beam displacement direction (61) when the distance to the target object is reduced, and extends at least partially at the right angle to this direction or is basically extended at the right angle to this direction.
EFFECT: more accurate wide range measurement due to removed defocusing influence; compensated measurement signal surface density reduction effect.
