METHOD FOR TANK INDEXING FOR CAPACITY ASSESSMENT BASED ON FILLING DEPTH Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC G01F17/00

FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method includes the designation of spatial coordinates and reference points on the tank horizontal section perimeters, building a three-dimensional simulation model of the tank, calculating the area of the tested tank section based on the said model with the use of interpolation method, calculation of the tank capacity and composition of the gauge table. The base tank horizontal section is assessed by the level of water in the tank, which is filled with water up to 150-300 mm. The geodesic site locations are calculated. Horizontal and vertical reference points are marked on the tank wall with the use of PLS. The spatial coordinates of reference points on the perimeters of the base horizontal section and upper sections of the tank is calculated by measuring the inclined distance, horizontal and vertical angles from the geodesic sites using electronic tachometer.

EFFECT: tank indexing accuracy increase; tank exterior design features no longer affect measurement accuracy; all types of tanks can be indexed.
