FIELD: surveying.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to geodetic monitoring of vertical cylindrical reservoirs. Method of determining the value and direction of roll of a vertical cylindrical reservoir geodetically involves horizontal division of outer surface of the said reservoir into belts, attachment in fixed points along the side outer surface of special marks, building up a digital point three-dimensional (3D) model of the outer surface of the reservoir by scanning the outer surface of the reservoir by means of a ground laser scanner with the linear discrecity of scanning pitch within the range from 0.5 to 4 cm, from at least four scanner stations at a distance from 15 to 25 m from the reservoir, combining the scans to each other. Scanning and processing, which enable to determine and analyze the spatial position relative to vertical axis of each belt of the reservoir, are performed each time for each belt by bending optimum models of cylinders at different levels of the reservoir corresponding to the height of every belt. Values of separate rolls relative to the vertical line for each belt are determined, herewith the central point on the axis of the bent cylinders is the position of its center of mass and will correspond to the actual position of the axis of the reservoir at the level of each belt, wherein the initial value for reading a separate roll is the position and the axis at the level of the first belt, the value of the reservoir roll and its direction are calculated basing on values of separate rolls at the level of the last (upper) belt.

EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy and reliability of determining the value and direction of roll of the reservoir.
