SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, specifically to cardiovascular surgery and can be used in interventional arithmology for treating atrial fibrillation. A left atrial area is determined by a non-fluoroscopic navigation system as shown by electroanatomical mapping. Additional homogeneous radio-frequency injuries are inflicted to enlarge total injury area exceeding 30% of the left atrial area to the exclusion of the injuries inflected on a posterior wall of the left atrium and a region between a left lower pulmonary vein and a mitral annulus.

EFFECT: method provides reducing a risk of developing auricular flutter and oesophageal injury following radio frequency ablation.
