FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: diameter of the pulmonary vein sleeves is measured by intracardiac echocardiography, and an electrocardiogram is recorded at the same time. Measuring the diameter is performed in time slots corresponding to the beginning and peak of the backflow marked on the ECG curve. The disturbed contractility of the pulmonary vein sleeves is diagnosed by an increase of their diameter at the peak of the backflow in relation to the diameter measured in the beginning.

EFFECT: method enables providing more accurate diagnosis of the disturbed contractility of the pulmonary vein sleeves following the radiofrequency ablation of pulmonary vein basins by comparing the echocardiography and electrocardiogram findings.
