FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus for checking self-magnetisation of insulated rail joint has housing elements for the structure of the object with a magnetic system over said elements. The housing elements of the structure are sections of rails which form an insulated rail joint. The magnetic system consists of a base on which a magnetic conductor with a magnet, a magnetic needle and a coil are mounted. The magnetic needle and the coil lie in a separate transparent housing over the surface of the head of the rail in the region of the joint, and the magnetic conductor with a magnet is placed above. The coil has a scale for determining the degree of self-magnetisation of the insulated rail joint. Also, the base is made from nonmagnetic material. The inner surface of the base repeats the outer surface of the head of the rail, thereby ensuring tight contact. The magnetic conductor consists of a ferromagnetic core and an electrical coil or a ferromagnetic core and a permanent magnet. The scale of the coil is multi-coloured, where a low degree of magnetisation, average degree of magnetisation and high degree of magnetisation in different zones of the coil, respectively, are in one colour. The magnetic needle is mounted at a height of 20-35 mm from the surface of the head of the rail. The magnetic conductor is mounted at a height of 20-35 mm over the magnetic needle.
EFFECT: possibility of rapid inspection of change in magnetic field strength in an insulated rail joint.
