SUBSTANCE: imaging system has a source (2) of polychromatic radiation and a radiation detector (6) with energy resolution. The imaging system also has a drive for moving the object (20) and radiation source (2) relative each other in order to obtain cut-off projections from different directions. A computer unit determines the k-th boundary component of at least one object (20) and substance inside the object (20) from the cut-off projections and determines uncut projections from the determined k-th boundary component. A reconstruction unit reconstructs the object using the uncut projections.
EFFECT: high image quality.
