FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of aluminothermic reaction mix for welding railway rails by intermediate casting. Proposed mix comprises scale modified by calcination at 150-1000°C and air blowing, metal aluminium as reducing agent, alloying admixtures in the form of ferroalloys and metals, and steel filler. All components are mixed to uniform distribution over mix volume and formation of bonded-dispersed structured system stabilised by vacuuming in elastic airtight package. Process line comprises bin for metal oxide scale connected by conveyor with scale grinder, magnetic separator, calcination kiln with blower, vibration screen, mixer, packing assembly with vacuum press and sealing apparatus. Note here that mixer is connected with collection bins for metal aluminium, alloying additives in the form of scale and steel filler.
EFFECT: stability, repeatability and controllability of chemical reaction parameters, higher quality of alloying.
