FIELD: welding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a reaction mixture for welding railroad rails by the intermediate casting method. The thermite mixture contains in a stoichiometric ratio iron oxides in the form of scale formed during the rolling of railway rails, in the amount of 64-66 wt.%, and aluminum powder 5-7 wt.% and titanium powder 27-31 wt.% as a reducing agent.
EFFECT: reaction mixture provides a low content of oxide non-metallic inclusions in the weld metal, formed during aluminothermic welding, makes it possible to obtain high mechanical properties of the welded joint and exclude the formation of microcracks and delaminations of the metal.
