FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: current of decreased frequency, which is supplied to electrodes (groups of electrodes) fixed relative to each other and to tray from power supply of current of decreased frequency, is passed through slag bath. Electric resistance of slag bath and power is controlled for each of the electrodes. Power for each electrode is controlled. At equality of electric resistances for electrodes there controlled is only the position of electrodes in slag bath and/or voltage between electrodes. At reduction of resistance for one electrode current of decreased frequency is passed additionally through the tray in antiphase with current of that electrode. At increase in resistance for one electrode current of decreased frequency is passed additionally through the tray in phase with current of that electrode.
EFFECT: providing stable high quality of molten ingots at improved reliability and service life of production tools, as well as optimum capacity and low electric power consumption, and improvement of stability of electric mode.
