SUBSTANCE: in the method at least two seeds are used, which are made in the form of a cylinder or a parallelepiped, isolated from the crystalliser body and installed in the slag bath at the angle to the axis of the consumable electrode. At the same time during remelting the distance between the lower end of the consumable electrode and seeds is maintained within 1.5-2.5 of the seed height, and the distance between the lower end of the consumable electrode and the surface of the slag bath is maintained within 0.5-1.5 of the seed height.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase efficiency of using spent electric energy in melting of a consumable electrode and quality of melted metal due to reduction of defects inside a bar and on its surface in the form of micropores, cracks, cissing and slag inclusions.
