FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to welded steel pipe and production of said tube using high-power-density beam. Steel strip is formed into cylinder so that strip opposite ends face each other. In feeding steep strip, it opposite ends are welded together for their entire depth by high-power-density beam and application of pressure by pressure rolls. Excess of weld seam on tube inner and outer sides are cut off. Thereafter, corrected seam is formed by repeated smelting and hardening of definite area on inner side of the tube. Said area features depth of at least 0.5 mm and width twice, or more, as larger as that of seam on said inner side before re-smelting. Seam central line is aligned with corrected seam central line.

EFFECT: defectless seam.
