FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: control voltage with amplitude higher than the threshold voltage of first and second polarity, respectively, where the second polarity is opposite the first, is applied across the electrical input of a liquid-crystal shutter; in the n-th cycle of the second channel, corresponding to the state of the liquid-crystal shutter with maximum optical transmission and in the (n+1)-th cycle in the fourth channel, corresponding to the state of the liquid-crystal shutter with maximum optical transmission and application of zero control voltage, in the n-th cycle with duration T in the first channel, first, control voltage is applied in form of a bipolar square-wave signal with duration T1, zero voltage is then applied for a period of time τ1 where T=T1+τ1, where for a period of time T1-τ, control voltage of first polarity is applied and for a period of time τ, control voltage of second polarity is applied, and in the (n+1)-th cycle of duration T in the third channel, control voltage in form a bipolar square-wave signal of duration T1 is applied first, and followed by zero voltage for a period of time τ1.
EFFECT: reduced power consumption while maintaining homogeneity of optical transmission of the liquid-crystal shutter by preventing formation of optical defects in its aperture for liquid-crystal structures of any type.
