FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in a liquid-crystal shutter, having a first substrate and a second substrate, at least one face of the first substrate of the liquid-crystal shutter is tapered and forms with the neighbouring face of the first substrate an angle φ>90°, and the direction of polishing of one of the substrates is at an angle of 45° to the horizontal axis of the liquid-crystal shutter from the lower face of the first substrate to the upper face of the first substrate, wherein the angle between the direction of polishing of the first substrate and the tapered face θ<45°. The liquid-crystal shutter also has at least one phase compensator lying at least between one polariser and one of the substrates; in the liquid-crystal shutter, the length of the tapered face of the first substrate is not less than 5 mm.
EFFECT: ensuring homogeneity of transmission of the liquid-crystal shutters, for example for 3D glasses controlled by a unipolar square wave with alternating polarity.
