SUBSTANCE: apparatus has means of determining whether a vehicle driver has taken a first measure, said first measure being a measure to brake the vehicle or a measure to chose positive torque of the engine which counteracts said first measure. Also, the apparatus has means of determining a first moment in time when said measure ends, means of determining a second moment in time when the driver takes a measure counteracting said ended measure, means for receiving at least one value of a standard parameter representing the ambient environment of the vehicle, or at least one value of a parameter from at least one internal sensor of the vehicle, through which the value of the standard parameter representing the ambient environment of the vehicle can be determined, and means of comparing a value, which is the difference between said second moment in time and said first moment in time, with the value of the standard parameter and determining, based on said comparison, the value of a parameter representing the foresight capacity of the driver.

EFFECT: estimation of the foresight capacity of a vehicle driver in a road traffic situation.
