FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention serves to increase uniformity of mechanical properties of wide hot-rolled sheets, mainly from high-strength low-alloy steel grades with hardness of 345-390. Billet from structural steel with carbon content not exceeding 0.16 % microalloyed by carbonitride-forming elements is rolled at thick-sheet hot rolling mill at rolling end temperature of 790-850 °C into 8-50 mm-thick strip. After rolling, said strip is subjected to differential water cooling.
EFFECT: uniform mechanical properties in wide range of thickness of 8-50 mm are reached by process parameters defined by claimed mathematical expressions.
